SCHOLARSHIP RULES AND APPLICATION PROCESS

RULES OF ELIGIBILITY

1. Must be a Graduating senior of a McKean County High School

2. Must submit an application no later than March 31st of the year

3. Must be attending a college in the state of Pennsylvania

4. Scholarship winners can renew scholarship during their first 4 years of college

5. Must write a personal letter of request to the attention of the scholarship board no less than 250 words on the topic of Scholarship and family history from a genealogical perspective.

6. The board will announce the winners on May 15th and the checks will be awarded at graduation by an appointed representative of the scholarship board.

7. The board's decision is final and the scholarship awards are based on GPA, Need, Family Veteran's Status (IE relatives who served or will serve in the US Military), and Genealogical membership in the following associated organizations: MOAA, ROA, SAR, DAR, AMVETS, AUSA, DAV, MERRICKFOUNDATION.ORG, Regional historical Societies and genealogical organizations and or volunteer work for any of these groups or the VA.

8. All applicants within the Mckean County Area including Bradford, Kane, Smethport, Eldered, Mt. Jewett, Port Allegany, and technical schools may apply.

Winners of the awards will also receive a certificate of the award. All checks are payable to the college and must be cosigned by the award winner.
